The foundation of Aspen Bad Oldesloe was laid in 1973 and we are today one of the most up-to-date manufacturing sites for conventional dose forms in Europe. Being located close to Hamburg with direct connections towards the most prominent national and international transportation networks, we ensure reliable supply of medicines to more than 150 countries.
Since 2009 we are part of the Aspen Group, headquartered in Umhlanga close to Durban, South Africa. Aspen is nowadays the biggest manufacturer of drug products in the southern hemisphere. Our site at Bad Oldesloe in Germany is an integral part of Aspen’s global manufacturing network which comprises in total 23 manufacturing sites on 6 continents

The site leadership team headed by Ulf Pagenkopf is aiming at our employees’ full identification with the site. It is not only a working place. We are working as a team and display an open and respectful interaction.

At Aspen Bad Oldesloe we support sustainability according to the definition of the United Nations Brundtland Commission: Through continuous process optimization and focus on specific sustainability projects.
While the site at Bad Oldesloe emphasizes minimizing the environmental footprint, the Aspen Group also sets targets in further areas of action such as for taking over of social responsibility for all our business units.
At Aspen Bad Oldesloe, we have been working according to a certified “environmental management system” since 1998. A certification for the occupational safety system was introduced in 2005 and since 2014 we have also received a certificate for our energy management system. Supported by Ecovadis, one of the world’s most relevant independent certifying bodies for sustainability, the Aspen Bad Oldesloe GmbH implements the systematic CSR-assessment of our partners throughout the entire supply chain. Obviously, we in Aspen started with the CSR-assessment of our own organization some years ago before we initiated the roll-out to our suppliers.

The well-being of our employees is key for us. We are considerate of the fact that an overall positive health balance for our drug products can only be achieved as long as our employees in production or in the laboratories are not harmed when manufacturing or analyzing them.
Therefore, we offer free-of-charge consultation hours at our occupational physician for all our employees.

Being part of the Pharma-/chemical industry, we are directly responsible through our own activities, products and services to minimize any detrimental impacts onto our surroundings, but also indirectly by choosing our suppliers and service providers consciously taking into account their environmental footprint.

- Reducing our energy consumption
- Renewable energy production at site and purchasing of electrical power from sustainable energy sources
